Northwest Encaustic opened in 2008 and is dedicated to exploring the encaustic medium in a fun, creative and safe environment. The studio is in West Seattle and is set up primarily for encaustic painting. It has large work surfaces, good lighting and ventilation as well as a staff of experienced instructors.

The intent of this studio for both new and experienced encaustic artists is to create an environment that encourages experimentation and further expansion of artwork. In addition to classes & workshops, the studio is also available to rent by the day, week or month. Renters will have access Friday through Sunday from 10am till 6pm whenever there isn't a class scheduled.

The Northwest Encaustic studios are now available to rent! Studio times will be Friday through Sunday 10:00am till 6:00pm. Availability needs to be prearranged and is potentially anytime there isn't a class scheduled. Click here to view available dates.

Studio Rental Requirements & Limitations

Rental fees are per person. There is a 10% discount for groups of three or more renters that schedule at the same time. If you purchase this option through the pulldown menu, please list the names of others in your group when entering the requested dates, this will help us match you to your group. If the required 3 renters do not ultimately end up renting at the same time you will not be eligible for the discounted rate and will be responsible for paying the normal rental rate.

Rental fees will cover encaustic medium and equipment, with the exception of wooden panels. Wooden panels will be available to purchase at the studio or students can bring their own. Renters who wish to work on large pieces or a large number of paintings can be subject to additional charges.

Rental is available to students of Northwest Encaustic or experienced encaustic painters. If you have not previously taken a class, then you will need to schedule an access test. Access tests are provided at Northwest Encaustic studios on Fridays at 4:00 pm.
