Artist Statement:

I am a gatherer of things and walking in the woods is essential to my art practice, a way to begin. My paintings evolve from the thousands of photos taken while wandering. Back in the studio I sort through these images waiting for a somatic response to shape, form, or memory. I work in series, and I love materials —using whatever is most appropriate to the current project. My intention is to emphasize or eliminate, honing in on an essence I find within a captured moment. The abstracted results are a response to light, shadow, wind, time, and memory.
