Artist statement

My work based on plant life. When my brush touches wood I feel compelled to “re-create” the scenes I have seen in my travels. Often, I feel like I am “cheating” because I draw so much inspiration from nature that I feel I am merely copying what is already there. I also indulge in process. The actual act of melting wax, adding pigment and putting brush to wood literally makes me drool. I become so engrossed with the work that I can do nothing else until the painting has completely come out of me.

Bio

After completing my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Rochester I headed west, being drawn to Seattle by the allure of glass art. My artistic interests lie in glass and encaustic painting which I show nationally. For many years I served as the Glass Department Manager at Pratt Fine Arts Center, followed by a stint at Pilchuck Glass School as the Special Events Manager and I am currently the Donor Development Director at Artist Trust.
